Four Natural Ways to Ease Menstrual Cramps.

Updated: Mar 3, 2019

Dear Friends,

This post is made specifically for you ladies out there who just need a little help when it comes to those darn period cramps. Obviously it varies for every woman, but for me, my cramps are the worst the day of. The first 4 hours or so of my period are the worst 4 hours of my whole life. (& yes, I say this phrase every month.) So, I have compiled the best ways that I'm able to get through those gruesome 4 hours, and pass them on to you. Oh, and by the way, they're all 100% natural. :)

1. Take a Hot Shower.

This is one that I do probably an hour or so in. I wallow in self pity for awhile and then I turn the shower on as hot as it can go and I just sit there. I don't take a bath, I take a shower. I like the feeling of the water pellets on my face and I like the pressure and the warmth it puts on my uterus. (yes, I'll be using this terminology throughout this blog post.) This tactic doesn't necessarily heal me by any means, it more just makes me feel better for the time being & of course I feel a lot cleaner by the time I step out.

2. Massaaaage the Uterus.

Okay ladies, time to put that boyfriend to good use. (Even if you don't have one, this one is still doable and feels s'goood.) Lie down on your back or your side and have him gently massage your uterus. The pressure is something that eases the pain and really helps promote that blood flow & reduce obstructions. If you have Essential Oils, drop some Peppermint (dilute with water) or DiGize (more on this guy later) right on and have him massage that into your skin. It works absolute wonders, I swear by it!

3. Consume Flaxseed Leading Up to Your Cycle.

So if you're someone whose cycle remains fairly consistent, this one will be easy for you. Go purchase some flaxseed at your local coop (or even Walmart?) and incorporate this into your diet about a week or two before your cycle. Flaxseed helps slow down the release of substances known as prostoglandins, aka, what's responsible for cramping during menstruation. You can add flaxseed to virtually anything you eat on a daily basis. You can add it to smoothies, salads, my typical breakfast is an egg over medium on a piece of toast, so what I'll do is sprinkle flaxseed on top of my egg and get my dosage that way. You only need one serving per day, so you don't need to overdo it. Just adding this to my routine has made a major difference in my cramping.

4. Adding DiGize Essential Oil to Your Water.

Okay so if any of you are Young Living members this one will be easy to jump into, however if you aren't, you can learn all about how to join in my 'Sincerely, Mir Essentials' section of this blog. This one is Game. Changing. & you absolutely need it in your life. You guys, DiGize is an essential oil that is specially formulated to help with any type of stomach pain. This includes digestion, the classic stomach ache, and of course, cramping. I have menstruated twice since having Young Living and my cramps have been loaaaads better, because of this oil. Plus it's super simple, all you do is add a drop to a shot of water, choke it down (because honestly, it doesn't taste great.) and within 10 minutes I promise you, no more cramps. If you're not a Young Living member, you can still purchase the product through this link here, (if ya'll don't mind adding my referral number at checkout that would be rad: 17709721) and even without wholesale price it's just under $20! It's a 5 ml bottle that will last you months because you only need 1-2 drops each time you use it. It's a must have for those of you who are serious about getting rid of those cramps.

Well folks, I think that's all the tips that I have for you today. If you have any questions, or other natural remedies for outing those nasty cramps, post them below. I'd love to have a conversation. :)

Sincerely, Mir
